Works Management, our sister title, is partnering with Cranfield School of Management to run the Best Factory Awards this year. The awards programme seeks to reward companies throughout UK manufacturing whose operations exemplify excellence.
Their stated goal is to help UK manufacturing industry improve its competitive performance by spreading best practice. The programme is about identifying best practice, spotlighting exemplary organisations and, through case studies, improving understanding of how it’s implemented.
“I’m very pleased that Works Management is driving the Best Factory Awards,” said Paddy Baker, editor of Works Management. “With our emphasis on improving manufacturing performance, I believe the magazine is the natural home for this competition.”
The awards are judged by expert assessors, who draw up a shortlist of entrants and undertake in-depth site visits.
The winners will be revealed at a ceremony on 4 November at the Institute of Directors in London. The event culminates in the presentation of the overall Deloitte Factory of the Year Award.
Entry to the competition is free, and all participants receive a benchmarking report comparing aspects of their plant’s performance with the average for their sector. The analysis is seen by many as the most compelling reason to enter.
