Yorkshire tea maker cosies up to Infor for supply chain transformation

Taylors of Harrogate, the tea and coffee merchant, says it is extending its Infor Process Essentials ERP to improve its supply chain efficiency.

Lindsay Botto, operations director at Taylors, says the company has bought Infor's SCM Demand Planning and SCM Advanced Scheduler advanced supply chain solutions, as well as PLM Optiva product lifecycle management software. The new systems are set to go live in summer 2009 and will help Taylors to cut costs, improve service and improve its time-to-market, he says, beyond what has already been achieved with its Infor ERP System21. He explains that it's all part of a project that involves completely overhauling Taylors' supply chain operations, while also improving its ability to anticipate demand changes, plan promotions and schedule production to meet demand peaks. "To keep pace with our continued growth we needed to explore new options that would enhance our business processes," explains Botto. "With a proven track record for success in the food and beverage industry coupled with strong, flexible solutions, we are confident that Infor's SCM and PLM solutions will form the backbone of our enhanced production and supply chain operations moving forward." Botto points to the classic challenge of managing shelf life, maturation times and storage restrictions for its products. The new solutions, he says, will help boost productivity through better scheduling and ensure the maximum shelf-life is provided for customers.
