Zollern goes for Solid Edge for transmission components design
German mechanical engineering firm Zollern, which specialises in gears, precision castings and slide bearings, has selected Solid Edge 3D CAD software from UGS for design of its transmission components.
The company says it is using Solid Edge first in its Herbertingen plant before rolling it out to plants in Dorsten then also China.
As a UGS NX digital product development customer for several years, Zollern says going for another UGS product made sense, and the firm like its simplicity and flexibility.
Says Karl Wahl, Zollern’s head of construction: “It was primarily the varied simulation options that convinced us and will make our life much easier, particularly in the complex area of gear construction. This will also help us speed up and improve the launch of products in the future.”
