In response to research that suggests a staggering 84% of technology organisations are planning to implement a data centre transformation project in the next 12 months, Hewlett Packard is launching a series of workshops.
HP commissioned the study, and respondents indicated top reasons as to lower operational costs (31%) and reduce business risk (29%).
John Bennett, worldwide director of Data Centre Transformation Solutions at HP, says the workshops are designed to help users build out efficient next-generation data centres by demonstrating how CIOs can quickly maximise their investments.
Which should be helpful in today’s business environment, where cost controls and rapid returns on technology investments are essential – leading to the current focus on projects aimed specifically at consolidation, business continuity, virtualisation and data centre automation.
Bennett specifically warns IT professionals against the temptation to handle transformations as a bunch of independent projects like these – noting that it’s still by far the most common approach. He also advises against driving projects against technology needs, rather than business needs.
“CIOs who approach data centre transformation initiatives with a focus on business needs can significantly reduce time to value for today’s technology investments, while laying the foundation for future growth,” says Bennett.
