Emerson acquires Bristol Babcock

Industrial conglomerate Emerson has acquired flow instrumentation specialist Bristol Babcock from FKI plc for $121 million. The group, which has annual revenues of some $80 million, is to be renamed Bristol, and will become part of process industries measurement and control systems giant Emerson Process Management. Bristol Babcock products include remote terminal units, flow computers, transmitters, and distributed process controllers for the oil, gas, power and water industries. The acquisition complements Emerson’s existing Rosemount, Micro Motion, Daniel and Mobrey brands. “Bristol will extend the Emerson product portfolio and leadership in flow measurement products and services, enabling us to offer an even broader range of value, performance and reliability to our customers,” says John Berra, president, Emerson Process Management. For his part, Jack Kelly, president of Bristol Babcock. Says: “This is excellent news for our company and our customers. Emerson Process Management’s market leadership in the process industry worldwide will allow us to provide a broader range of solutions, enable us to grow our business faster, and contribute to the success of other Emerson businesses as well.”
