Electronic components distributor Abacus Group is spending £2 million on a global business management platform, based on Strategix’s OneOffice ERP solution.

Abacus has a network of 44 local offices and five warehouses, as well as a business in Asia providing European customers with a robust supply chain to the group’s manufacturing operations in the region. Jeremy Wood, Abacus director of operations, says that following its acquisitions of Deltron and Axess, Abacus underwent a strategic review, the result of which was a move to a new ERP package for all group businesses. “After a rigorous analysis of our future requirements and a comprehensive assessment of the packages, Strategix was found to offer the best solution,” he says. “We have known them for a number of years, and the winning factors were functionality and flexibility, Strategix’ track record of delivering similar multi-national solutions in our industry, and the quality of their team. We speak the same language and they demonstrated a deep understanding of our market.” Wood says the system will be delivered in five main phases. The initial phase will build a group trading model, including capabilities such as the sharing of inventory across the various group companies. This will be quickly followed by a pan-European roll-out. “OneOffice is an excellent solution, providing the functionality we need to meet our current needs and the ability to easily enhance the software as our business evolves,” says Stefan Maja, Abacus director of IT. “Strategix and OneOffice will have a major impact on our business, helping us gain maximum benefit from our increased presence in continental Europe.”
