Mechanical seals specialist AESSEAL ha contracted Siemens Industry Software partner Majenta PLM to implement multi-site licences of Teamcenter PLM (product lifecycle management) software.
Stuart Welsh, head of IT at AESSEAL, says that the initial implementation includes several Teamcenter Author licences, Teamcenter Visualisation and integration with Siemens' Solid Edge and NX CAD/CAM software as well.
He explains that the system will be used to manage AESSEAL's new product introduction process in the UK, while a second phase will see this extended to other AESSEAL sites, initially in the UK and India.
"While the company already has a system to manage product information, we realised that, as a global business, what we need is a comprehensive PLM system that will support global product development business processes," says Welsh.
"Teamcenter will provide that capability, enabling us to consolidate and to integrate product knowledge and business processes within a unified IT environment that is accessible to all, no matter where they are physically located within the AESSEAL community," he adds.
Indeed, Welsh indicates that uUltimately Teamcenter will be used to manage all product-related information across all AESSEAL sites around the world, including the USA, South Africa, Germany and Brazil.
Among key benefits he expects are reduced product development timescales and improved cost controls as a result of better and easier access to up-to-date product information as well as streamlined product development business processes.
