Defence and aerospace electronics group Thales is extending its deal with CAD/CAM and PLM (product lifecycle management) software developer UGS to implement its Teamcenter PLM globally.
Thales originally deployed Teamcenter in several divisions to optimise its processes and workflows world-wide, enabling more efficient, simplified access to product data, as well as creating a more unified IT environment.
With the new global roll-out – a world-wide five-year deal – Thales will use its PLM system to handle all change management globally, as well as validation and data generated internally and by suppliers and partners.
The system will also be integrated with Thales’ SAP ERP system to deliver a re-engineered and updated information system to support all product development and production.
The firm reckons the new system will enable it to optimise common processes and improve sharing, management and control of product data both within and across its divisions.
It says it also expects to improve collaborative working for the extended teams within Thales group companies and out to include suppliers, partners and customers.
