Infor’s application management services, initially launched in Europe for its inherited and redeveloped Baan ERP solutions, are now being extended to the company’s entire ERP range.
Under AMS, Infor takes on management, monitoring and support of any manufacturer’s Infor software and associated IT systems – the claim being reduced cost of ownership, particularly for critical applications.
Is it worth going for? Paul Pinto, vice president of Infor, says the service provides: application patches, upgrades and performance monitoring; system administration and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance tasks; database configuration and administration; and end-user support, including help-desks and training.
And he says users can also choose to host their applications through Infor Managed Services – meaning Infor evaluates your requirements, creates and implements a tailored services programme and backs that with SLAs that can be constantly reviewed.
“Whether it’s a Fortune 500 giant or a small business, companies need solutions and services that adapt to their business needs,” says Pinto. “Infor AMS helps companies focus on their core business, affordably and without compromising IT performance.”
Netherlands-based hazardous chemicals warehousing firm Van den Anker has been using the service for its Baan IV ERP since July, 2007, and managing director Leon Jacobs says:. “With Infor AMS, we pay a fixed amount each month, we have a single provider that solves problems quickly, and we have guaranteed availability and continuity from our ERP solution.”
His view: “When you add these factors, we save time and money over managing the systems ourselves.”
