The automotive sector continues to hold out the prospect of jobs growth, according to a survey from an employment specialist.
The research, carried out by the employment agency Giant Group is particularly positive about job opportunities over the next year in the automotive sector.
The survey among engineering contractors found that, from October 2012 to March 2013, 22% of respondents were working in the automotive industry, an increase of 9% on the previous year.
In addition, a further 22% of respondents predicted that the sector would continue to see more job prospects in the next 12 months.
Giant Group managing director Matthew Brown said, "These results are perhaps expected when you consider that BMW had a record year in 2012 and Jaguar Land Rover is creating 700 jobs in the West Midlands.
An expansion of this kind requires the specific skills of top engineering contractors to manage new projects, so demand in expert skills will understandably increase."
