AW Europe, part of the Toyota Motor group which manufactures electronic cards for navigation systems, reconditions automatic gearboxes and provides distribution and after sales service for most of Europe’s automotive manufacturers, has selected JD Edwards OneWorld extended ERP software as the foundation for its new integrated manufacturing and EDI system.
The development will underpin expansion of the company’s assembly and re-manufacturing plants in Belgium, including its new factory in Mons, and is expected to be in operation by the middle of the year.
AW Europe says it expects to see a dramatic increase in output. The firm had reached the limit of its in-house manufacturing software and needed to move on with both EDI for its customers and integrated manufacturing and invoicing.
“We were looking for a software product that would give us flexibility for the future,” says Michel Cervello, director of AW Europe. “With complex site logistics around Europe we were obliged to seek an integrated system... After an extensive selection process, we chose JD Edwards OneWorld because of its flexibility.
“Adaptability was a key requirement, especially for our new business unit. We were also agreeably surprised by the pre-defined implementation possibilities in OneWorld that would help us implement incrementally, allowing us to progress as our expansion demands.”
AW Europe is implementing OneWorld’s manufacturing and distribution modules. The European subsidiary plans to emulate the successful performance of its parent company, which has made considerable progress in reducing manufacturing costs.
