Places are going fast for this year's Best Factory Awards (BFA) Conference on 19-20 March with only a few places remaining.

The conference, organised jointly by Works Management and Cranfield School of Management, features an exclusive opportunity to tour Toyota's flagship Burnaston car plant. Works Management group editor Max Gosney said: "Book now if you don't want to miss out on an exciting conference programme and the prospect of seeing the UK home of one of the world's most revered manufacturers. "This is a golden opportunity to learn from the best and see the Toyota Production System (TPS) in action." TPS-driven standardisation, just-in-time and kaizen helped Burnaston produce nearly 110,000 cars last year. The tour will take place on day two of the BFA Conference, which takes place at the Hilton at St George's Park, Burton-Upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Day one of the conference will feature best practice case studies from the 2013 Best Factory Award winners on how to make the journey to world-class operational excellence. The keynote speaker line-up includes Sony Pencoed MD, Steve Dalton who helped steer the Welsh broadcast camera specialist to the overall Factory of the Year crown. Dalton will reveal how he convinced his workforce to back a radical change programme that turned the site from making high volume TVs to a world-leader in specialist cameras. Delegates will then be whisked to Toyota's Burnaston plant on day two of the conference. As well as plant tours, delegates will be invited to put their lean manufacturing know-how to the test in a series of practical workshop games. Hurry - spaces for the BFA Conference are limited and demand is particularly high this year. Book now at www.cranfield.ac.uk/som/bfc14 or call 01234 754505. See more at www.bestfactoryconference.co.uk
