Over 100 VIP spaces are available to see inside the UK home of one of the world's most revered manufacturers and see the Toyota Production System (TPS) in action. TPS driven standardisation, just-in-time and kaizen have helped Burnaston produce nearly 110,000 cars last year.
Delegates will see Toyota manufacturing lines featuring the TPS principle of jidoka, which means that the line can be stopped when a quality issue occurs and Just-in-Time in which each process produces only what is needed by the next process in a continuous flow.
The tour will take place on day two of the BFA Conference, which takes place at the Hilton at St George's Park, Burton-Upon-Trent, Staffordshire.
Day one of the conference will feature best practice case studies from the 2013 Best Factory Award winners on how to make the journey to world-class operational excellence.
The keynote speaker line-up includes Sony Pencoed MD, Steve Dalton who helped steer the Welsh broadcast camera specialist to the overall Factory of the Year crown.
Dalton will reveal how he convinced his workforce to back a radical change programme that turned the site from making high volume TVs to a world-leader in specialist cameras.
Delegates will then be whisked to Toyota's Burnaston plant on day two of the conference. As well as plant tours, delegates will be invited to put their lean manufacturing know-how to the test in a series of practical workshop games.
