Improving stock management, reporting and billing, while freeing up staff time to focus on business expansion – those are Cable Services expectations of its new ERP system.
Jason Bostock, managing director of the specialist cables and accessories distributor is implementing a system from Solarsoft as part of its move to expand the business.
The implementation of Solarsoft's xVP system will modernise Cable Services' IT infrastructure, he says, moving the business from a Unix-based IT system to a Windows environment.
This, says Bostock, will enable all staff across the business to have access to real-time stock management and reporting information for the first time – while also streamlining billing processes.
"By implementing the new xVP system from Solarsoft, we will benefit from having a very modern, user-friendly Windows-based system to support business expansion," says Bostock.
"We are looking to grow our business over the next two years, either organically or through acquisition, and we needed an ERP system that we could rely on to support us through this process. We don't want to waste time manually creating our own reports, or always having to question whether the information in the IT system is correct.
"We just want a system that will give us quick and easy access to the information we need in order to drive the business forward. This is exactly what we get with Solarsoft."
And with head office in Wrexham and regional branches in Liverpool, Stone and Glasgow, as well as £2.5 million worth of stock and a range of 30,000 products, you can understand why Cable Services needed something slick.
