Cloud computing delivers Syspro ERP to injection moulding firm

Cloud computing specialist DigiMIS is helping injection and rotational moulder The Stewart Company to grow the business from a loss making position to a £1.2 million profit, following a management buyout.

TSC commercial manager Shirley O'Connell explains that DigiMIS' cloud application service provides a critical platform, delivering its Syspro ERP system as a cloud application, while also hosting Microsoft applications and Crystal reports. The service has already brought "substantially improved efficiency", as well as "significant cost savings", she says. Those come about because the applications are hosted using data centre infrastructure accessed on-demand via the Internet – so the company only pays for what it uses, without the cost of managing an IT infrastructure, or employing IT staff. Indeed, she says that the monthly fee paid to DigiMIS is less than the cost of one in-house IT resource and offers far more in terms of round-the-clock availability and expertise. "Any queries are resolved very quickly. DigiMIS is focused on first-time fix, 99% of the time, whether telephone or email queries. And if five of our people have a query simultaneously, all are dealt with at the same time. That could never have happened before," says O'Connell.
