Cold store logistics business Cold Move has signed up for a new fleet of warehouse trucks from Toyota Material Handling UK.
From its three depots in the North West, Cold Move offers temperature-controlled storage and distribution services, including 48,000 pallet spaces in its state-of-the-art frozen warehouse, blast freezing and distribution throughout the UK.
The new fleet includes BT Reflex reach trucks and BT Levio powered pallet trucks. The BT Reflex reach trucks are fitted with cold store cabs which insulate the operator from the cold conditions.
Cold store's operations director, Mike Lythgoe, comments: "During extensive competitive trials we found the BT Reflex reach truck with cold store cab surpassed our expectations in terms of design, innovation, all round visibility and overall quality compared to the other trucks we trialled.
"The improved specification on the ride-on powered pallet trucks with fixed backrests, powered steering and battery change capability are also helping us to improve our productivity."
Cold Move is using a new Toyota battery change tugger, which enables quick battery changing and reduces risk of injury to operators. The company is also using high frequency chargers which lower electricity consumption, reduce watering and improve carbon footprint.
Lythgoe says the new battery change system brings "a considerable cost saving" to his business.
