Specialist internal combustion engine designer and manufacturer Cubewano has selected and implemented Exel's Efacs E/8 ERP software to manage its manufacturing process and support predicted steep growth.
The Sutton Coldfield-based firm specialises in made-to-measure unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) engines, which are pushing the boundaries of power to weight ratios – and that was its issue.
A spokesperson explains that, with its heavy emphasis on R&D and hence also change, the management team felt its existing ERP system was holding the company back.
"We selected Efacs ERP, as we were aware of its excellent track record in manufacturing and our market sector in particular," he says. "Several of our key suppliers and customers already used Efacs and, as such, we knew it could supply the levels of traceability, usability and integration we require."
Prior to implementing Efacs E/8, Cubewano ran Microsoft Navision, which "lacked control and traceability" – essential to meet the demands of military requirements and specifications.
Efacs ERP would, says the spokesperson, be capable of taking Cubewano's products all the way through design, production and after sales service. And that would enable the firm to meet predicted demand for its air, land and sea vehicles.
"Efacs will enable the company to grow and diversify without having to keep revisiting its core ERP system," he says. "It has coped with everything we have thrown at it so far and still has huge scope for future expansion. It has become a key enabler in the company's continued success."
