Revolutionary commercial vehicle maker to go lean on Exel Efacs ERP

Coventry-based zero emissions commercial vehicles manufacturer Modec is to implement an Exel Efacs E/8 ERP system to support lean manufacturing at its new factory.

The 40-user system is part of a major investment programme for the company, which was only founded in 2004. Due for go-live next month, it will lead to first production vehicles rolling off its line towards the end of this year. Modec’s Kris Osbourne says that, when fully implemented the system will also include additional modules such as shop floor data collection (SFDC) and customer and supplier collaboration for efficient communication up and down the supply chain. “Having evaluated vendors on the basis of quality, cost and time to implement, we felt that Efacs was the best option,” he says. “We also had to ensure that the system selected supported our lean manufacturing facility.” Modec is launching a range of battery powered vehicles designed to operate in city environments, yet capable of reaching 50mph and covering more than 100 miles carrying up to 2 tonnes.
