Aerospace supplier to go lean on SME ERP system

Aerospace supplier Neomet, which manufactures high performance gas path seals for aero gas turbine engines, says it expects lean improvements when its Syspro ERP system from McGuffie Brunton goes live in December.

Neomet Ltd, part of global surface technology specialist Sulzer Metco Turbine Components, has seen demand increase for its fabricated honeycomb parts, and says that was the driver to get away from paper-based systems and move to ERP – but ERP geared to the requirements of SME manufacturers. The firm says key goals are: to introduce lean manufacturing with automated SFDC (shop floor data capture) in order to improve expediting products through the factory; to maintain its stock area; and to improve the company’s quotation and order processes. Ben West, technical sales manager with Neomet, says: “With the help of Syspro, we are looking to have better visibility over our entire manufacturing process.” And he explains that the system will also reduce admin costs and speed up quotations while improving the firm’s ability to respond to customer enquiries. Neomet intends to introduce the system in two phases, with the SFDC system going live in 2007, potentially extending to integrated CRM (customer relationship management) later.
