Syspro ERP making sorties into aerospace sector

Royston-based aerospace components and assemblies builder Thermal Engineering, which recently went live with a Syspro ERP system, says it is now improving responsiveness to customer demand.

The firm reports that the McGuffie Brunton system, which now handles manufacturing, distribution and finance, is also eliminating manual processes in raising works orders and material provisioning, and reducing the amount of cash tied up in WIP (work in progress) and material stocks. Interestingly, the company selected Syspro 6.0 following lengthy evaluation of a number of ERP packages. McGuffie has recently gained several customers in the aerospace industry, all of which have demanding requirements in scheduling, concession management, quality inspection and lot traceability – and hence the choice. Paul Knight, deputy managing director of Thermal Engineering, says: “For the specific requirements of aerospace suppliers, Syspro does a lot more than the typical ERP/MRP system. It delivers the specific functionality that we need to control and manage our businesses, in order that we may improve our performance to customers and become better suppliers.” McGuffie Brunton has now formed a Special Interest Group for manufacturers supplying into aerospace, to look more closely at the industry’s ongoing requirements.
