Automotive lighting and interiors manufacturer Invertec is reporting initial success with its new ERP software from K3 Syspro, which was aimed primarily at improving customer responsiveness.
Syspro is replacing old bespoke systems built by Invertec, which were last updated 10-years-ago. Finance director Paul Burnett says that, rather than spend time and money updating legacy systems, the company felt a modern solution made more sense.
Putting meat on the bones of the deliverables, he says the new ERP suite has been configured to focus on reducing order lead-times, while also better meeting customer expectations. It is also replacing the firm's old MRP system, which was seen as weak.
"Our existing solution could only handle order data in weekly batches and, as our customer base grew, lead time expectations were reduced," explains Burnett.
"So we needed to invest in a solution that could handle daily and hourly data to enable us to respond instantly to customer orders," he continues.
"Our previous MRP engine also had poor programme logic so we needed to have a better one installed," he adds.
Burnett says Invertec also needed to improve accounting history, as its old system was overwriting sales with the latest orders. Syspro's integration of accounting modules now gives the company increased visibility of data for stock valuation and exchange rates, he says.
K3 undertook the first implementation in Malaysia with the help of local Syspro partners, working to tight data integration across Invertec's worldwide offices, its Far East division and two sites in the UK.
Invertec went live on-time and at the end of November in Malaysia, ready for the busy Christmas rush from its new factory. The company's Fairford factory and head office will follow before implementation is completed at its Trimdon Grange (Co Durham) site.
K3 is co-ordinating the entire solution, taking into account all local legislative and governance requirements. K3 Managed Services is also involved, deploying Syspro globally from the K3 cloud network.
