Security specialist Allen-Vanguard says its new ERP system, due to go live at the end of the year, will play a key role in restructuring its manufacturing operations and developing new products.
The Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire-based company has selected a Syspro 6.0 ERP system from McGuffie Brunton, and is going for a phased implementation of its manufacturing, financials and CRM modules.
Allen-Vanguard, which manufactures products to counter terrorist activity, such as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for bomb disposal, says its existing ERP software was a barrier to planned production and business improvements.
As well as supporting the company through its re-structuring, it says Syspro 6.0 will enable management to better control changes to the product mix and to develop new products for specialist markets.
“We have taken a long term view with SYSPRO with future proofing of our IT needs in mind”, explains Gerald Harris, deputy managing director. “Our current system doesn’t meet the needs of the business in terms of flexibility. We have to work around the system and fight it constantly, and work the way that the system demands.”
