The first female to be appointed to SAP's executive board is Dr Angelika Dammann, ex of Unilever DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Dammann takes over leadership of SAP's global HR and will also serve as labour relations director, with SAP expecting her to transfer her Unilever experience, as vice president HR and labour relations director for that company.
Accomplishments there included significant initiatives that improved employee morale, enhanced recruitment and retention, and delivered cost savings. Before that she spent 17 years with Shell in positions of increasing responsibility, including HR policy advisor, global communications director and vice president of the group IT infrastructure organisation.
"SAP is comprised of highly talented, driven and diverse employees, and it's a wonderful opportunity for me to help SAP champion our passionate workforce," comments Dammann. "I am excited to be a part of SAP's transformation and help drive this company's growth strategy to the next level."
This appointment comes as SAP refocuses on simplifying the organisation, accelerating innovation and improving execution by empowering its workforce.
"One of our first priorities as co-CEOs was to address the critical need to significantly improve our employee engagement worldwide," comment Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-CEOs, SAP.
"We are confident that we have found the perfect champion for our people. With her global experience and understanding of the needs of a diverse employee base, we believe that she is uniquely qualified to lead an innovative, responsive HR function."
