Duet Enterprise, which connects Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and SAP solutions, has been launched by its joint developers to "provide end users with easier access to business processes and data".

And the pair have also gone live with the SAP-Microsoft Unite Partner Connection programme "to help partners expand their portfolios and reach more customers". Eric Swift, Microsoft SharePoint general manager, says that firms deploying Duet Enterprise can expect to enhance the return on their existing IT investments and create a more collaborative infrastructure that will lead to improved business productivity. "Customers and partners have frequently requested deeper integration between their two leading IT solutions from SAP and Microsoft," asserts Swift. "[This software] delivers on that need by combining the power of the SharePoint business collaboration platform and the familiarity of Microsoft Office 2010 applications, with world-leading business process solutions from SAP," he continues. Early adopters of the beta software are enthusiastic. Mandar Kumar Ananda, senior project manager for CRM at Infosys, says that his organisation is using Duet Enterprise as a framework "to standardise the delivery of scalable solutions integrating SAP applications and SharePoint". "We delivered an account workspace solution with information from SAP Customer Relationship Management, documents from Microsoft SharePoint, and the tools for teams to collaborate," she explains. Meanwhile, Sandvik Tooling CTO Nevzat Ertan comments that using Duet Enterprise for workflow approvals of invoices has empowered users with information from SAP applications without the need to log in. "Through the integration of SAP data and SharePoint, we have enhanced business planning and optimised procurement functions based on faster invoice approval cycles," he says. As for the Unite programme, Jean-Claude Viollier, head of global channels and partners at Capgemini, comments: "It's critical that we stay focused on the technology and business investments with the greatest promise for return. An essential part of that includes closely co-ordinating our efforts with Microsoft and SAP, and we expect Unite Partner Connection to be an outstanding resource." "Duet Enterprise extends the power of SAP applications for many of our customers who also use Microsoft SharePoint," states Michael Reh, general manager and senior vice president, Information Worker Solutions at SAP. "This provides users with streamlined productivity and better decision-making… Together with SharePoint, the software delivers a layer of interoperability that allows customers and partners to focus on creating solutions that drive business growth."
