Energy efficiency remains one of the most important considerations when selecting UPSs for data centres (server rooms).
However, more than 60% of businesses lack the technology to track energy usage of their systems.
That's chief among findings of a poll of IT professionals, conducted by Eaton, at the recent Spiceworks SpiceWorld London event.
Apart from confirming that most (68%) users reckon the term 'server room' is a more accurate description than 'data centre' for SMEs' IT rooms – an important distinction when it comes to appropriate equipment – the research also revealed that 78% believe they personally need to specify the type and size of UPS.
Additionally, more than half (53%) consider UPS sizing scalability and upgradability an important factor when planning their IT infrastructures.
