Appliances manufacturer Electrolux has selected GT Nexus to provide the cloud-based supply chain technology platform that will automate its global freight spend management process.
Delivered as a service over the Internet, the platform is expected to optimise the entire purchase-to-pay lifecycle, moving the manufacturer from conventional annual and spot buying to an ongoing, strategic freight management approach.
Bjorn Vang Jensen, vice president purchasing and global logistics at Electrolux, explains that the GT Nexus platform allows the Electrolux freight procurement teams to control and adjust buying in real time.
"GT Nexus connects us with our transport service providers and allows everyone to see and act on a common set of shared rate information and related transactions in the cloud," explains Jensen.
"This collaboration will help us maintain strong, strategic partnerships with our providers," he adds.
Jensen suggests that, by moving the supply chain to the cloud, companies can get a clear view of every channel in their supply chains, allowing them to manage information and collaborate internally and externally with supply partners and service providers in real time.
