Enterprise integration seminar to cover Land Rover, Jaguar and Typhoon experience

PLM (product lifecycle management) consultancy Datamation is running a one-day seminar on enterprise integration, which it says will help manufacturers transform their businesses.

Datamation managing director Kais Al-Timimi refers to a recent survey by NIST (the US National Institute of Standards and Technology), which concluded that interoperability problems cost the US capital equipment industry an estimated $15.8bn per annum. He also points out that integration and customisation costs are widely believed to account for more than 50% of the deployment cost of PLM solutions. “It’s not surprising therefore that enterprise integration is at the top of CEOs’ priorities,” he says. The morning session will cover concepts, strategies, benefits and best practice. Presentations include: Paul Warren, projects information manager at Tube Lines (which looks after maintenance and upgrades for London underground), talking about its massive IT implementation aimed at reversing the effects of decades of under-investment; and Kevin Billington, global supplier integration team leader at Jaguar and Land Rover, discussing progress with the company’s virtual car, global sourcing and faster development cycle programmes. Then in the afternoon, Peter Cheetham, ITAS Consultant, will provide a case study on the shared data environment used in support and ongoing operation of the Typhoon – involving multiple applications and systems in both military and commercial organisations. The seminar runs on 23 November at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham and is aimed at senior managers, project leaders and IT and engineering professionals in involved with enterprise integration projects.
