Port Talbot, South Wales-based Excel Electronic Assemblies says it’s improved customer response times from 24 hours to just five minutes thanks to new scheduling software.
The electrical wiring systems specialist was struggling to issue bulk acknowledgements to customers, but IMS’ Uniplan system has transformed all that – now managing its complex production business end-to-end.
Excel project manager Tim Linton says: “We have only been using Uniplan for a few months, but already we are seeing real benefits. We have better control of our shop floor and our confidence in stock numbers is increasing. In fact, our accountant confirmed that our recent stock-take was our most accurate ever.”
Excel enlisted the help of IMS more than 18 months ago and has spent the interim period fine-tuning its Uniplan software for the business. This time lag has enabled the two companies to work together to eliminate any teething problems and ensure a smooth hand over to the ERP system.
