Industrial cranes manufacturer Fassi Group says it has gone live with Cincom Acquire to increase the speed and accuracy of orders and to provide guided selling to its international dealer network.
Cincom's product configuration software was able to rise to the challenge of its rules definition and management, which, according to Roberto Calegari, group supply chain manager at Fassi Group, were far too complex for others to handle.
Calegari says it was important that the configuration solution chosen could be controlled in-house and integrated with the company's ERP system, so that production people, who know cranes inside out, could implement the projects – not the IT specialists.
"The Cincom product is a very powerful and versatile engine, able to cope with complex products and processes that are hard to manage, and producing error-free results," comments Calegari.
He explains that Fassi's goals are to increase the efficiency of the entire front end configuration and sales job, as well as associated back-office processes, from planning to production – and says that Fassi is now able to receive configurations from all over the world 24 hours a day.
The configurator project took around six working months to implement, with a group of four Fassi people. Calegari, who was surprised at how quickly it was up and running, says: "After four or five days of training, we could already start using it."
