Zetes, the auto-ID systems manufacturer, has gone live with a SAP Business All-in-One ERP system for its operations in the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, stating that it will enable growth and improve business decision making.
€217 million Zetes has seen rapid growth in the UK over the last three years, and Zetes managing director for Northern Europe James Hannay says the firm had outgrown its previous systems.
"Up until now, we have been using multiple systems and spreadsheets, which are time consuming and, because they are not integrated, have inaccuracies," he explains.
He cites, for example, three separate systems being used to hold customer data, which has resulted in issues with invoicing and deliverers – not ideal for a company in the supply chain advancement business.
"It is really important that we have an accurate picture of the status of the business, and we need access to data in a timely manner so we can make effective business decisions," says Hannay. "Our [previous] systems meant we had a great deal of duplicate data and pulling reports at month-end could take a considerable amount of time."
He indicates that Zetes looked at several ERP vendor offerings, but felt that SAP was the right for the business, "both to resolve the immediate business pains, and also to provide a scalable platform for the future".
As an existing SAP partner, Zetes already had a good understanding of the SAP product and the potential benefits. The SAP software will be implemented by itelligence.
Zetes is currently beginning to implement SAP BusinessObjects for business intelligence and analytics.
