Briggs Equipment has invested £5.5 million in Yale equipment for its short-term rental fleet as part of its £20m transition from Caterpillar to sole UK Yale distributor.
Currently, Cannock-based Briggs's short-term rental fleet is 30% Yale and in the next six months it hopes to increase this to 55%, making a total of 1,200 machines.
The latest 450-strong addition comprises counterbalance forklifts, order pickers, powered pallet trucks and reach trucks. Briggs now has 900 Yale machines in the fleet, the average age of which is less than 18 months.
Allan Parsons, asset manager for Briggs Equipment, said: "We have made a huge step in our transition plan of replacing all of our old short-term rental machines in the fleet with new Yale trucks. We want to be totally committed to our Yale dealership and supply the most reliable and cost effective short-term solutions for our clients who want to rent from as little as one day or up to one year."
All the trucks are high spec and have various modifications including special transmissions, oil cool disc brakes, numerous engine sizes, monitoring systems and speed limiters.
