Among the beneficiaries are smoked salmon company The St James Smokehouse Ltd in Gretna, which is to receive around £1 million to develop a salmon processing factory that will also see the creation of 50 jobs locally over the next three years.
Other projects include £65,000 to Eat Mair Fish Ltd in Moray to upgrade its facility and install new plant and equipment, and £6,500 to Scott Shellfish Ltd in Shetland to develop a cold storage facility.
The fifth round of the European and Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF) has awarded grants to 43 projects across Scotland in total.
Fisheries Secretary Fergus Ewing (pictured) said: “Our maritime economy plays a crucial role in supporting communities across the country, which is why continued investment is important.
“The support of this fund will help processing businesses expand and enhance their work. Investment in fisheries, aquaculture and processors is crucial to support our ambitions to double the value of the food and drink industry.”
