Get automated to avoid future postal strike problems

Manufacturers should be considering further digitisation of their supply chain business processes in view of the potential for further strike action by postal workers in the New Year.

So says Martyn Broadhead, sales and marketing director of Solarsoft's distribution and warehouse systems division. "Delays in documents being received by customers, suppliers and partners, and the trend for some companies to use the postal strike as an excuse to delay payments, has had a serious impact on the cash flow of manufacturers and distributors," he observes.. His view: companies should use the strikes as a catalyst to automate more of their internal business processes. "By embracing electronic invoicing, manufacturers and distributors can send PDF invoices and statements from their ERP system at the click of a button," he says. "In the current economic climate, using an ERP system with integrated electronic invoicing provides an alternative option for businesses that helps them to maintain a tighter control over their finances and remain competitive in difficult trading conditions," he advises.
