Haggis manufacturer Macsween selects new software system

Ambitious plans to extend the family-run Macsween food manufacturer that has been making its award-winning haggis in Edinburgh for over 50 years sparked a review of current business processes that have led to the replacement of its existing Sage and MS/Access systems.
Following an evaluation, Macsween and its IT consultant have selected a software solution from the publicly owned UK food and drink industry IT specialist Sanderson to meet its current requirements and support planned future growth.
The new system will save on double-keying and data duplication in the process, while the automation of business processes in the factory and the warehouse will also help Macsween to address particularly busy peak periods during the three months from November to February.
Stock visibility will be improved and Macsween will also benefit from a dedicated food support team during the implementation process and beyond.
Jo Macsween, director of the company that also makes black pudding and created vegetarian haggis said that she believed the company would now have the right system to help support its expansion plans over the coming years. "A single integrated system will help us meet our customer needs more efficiently while assisting us to evaluate good opportunities for the future," she said.
