HP extends automated change and configuration to network

HP is now offering its customers an automated network change and configuration management system following its licensing agreement with Voyence in the US.

HP OpenView Network Configuration Manager integrates Voyence technology to extend change, configuration and release management to devices such as routers, hubs and switches irrespective of device type and manufacturer. Compatible with ITIL (information technology infrastructure library) best practices, the system enables IT staff to identify, implement and validate changes to optimise companies’ IT infrastructure. It also tracks and reports on network configuration changes for auditing and compliance reporting, building on HP OpenView’s ability to remediate non-compliant configurations in real time and provide single-click proof of compliance. “The value of today’s IT infrastructure is a component of its operational efficiency, availability and security,” said Susan Nash, chief executive officer, Voyence, Inc. “Only by controlling changes made to device configurations can the network operator be assured the network meets corporate defined network design, security policies and government regulatory requirements.”
