Supply chain planning and optimisation specialist i2 Technologies has terminated its merger talks with JDA Software, announced back in August.
JDA CEO Hamish Brewer had said the acquisition would complete its software jigsaw. “By acquiring i2, we double our addressable market in manufacturing to include discrete manufacturing, complementing our current market leadership in process manufacturing and strengthening our retail and transportation management presence.”
With the deal off, it’s back to the drawing board for both organisations. JDA loses its prospective interest in high tech and discrete manufacturing supply chain planning. On the other hand, i2 goes back to its pre-JDA uncertainty.
As i2 CEO Dr Pallab Chatterjee said back I August, in the enterprise software business today, scale matters. “In that regard, the combination of these two companies will create one of the world’s strongest, best-of-breed software solution.” Not any more.
