Supply chain software specialist JDA Software is to acquire i2 Technologies for $346 million cash, creating what the pair describe as “a global leader in supply chain planning and optimisation”.
The combined company will have annual revenues of $635 million, including nearly $300 million of maintenance and subscription fees, and JDA CEO Hamish Brewer says the acquisition completes its software jigsaw.
“By acquiring i2, we double our addressable market in manufacturing to include discrete manufacturing, complementing our current market leadership in process manufacturing and strengthening our retail and transportation management presence.
“i2’s world-class customers and employees are the perfect match for JDA. With the experience gained from the successful acquisition of Manugistics in 2006, the addition of i2 is comparatively an incremental and logical step for JDA.”
i2 CEO Dr Pallab Chatterjee makes the point that in the enterprise software business today, scale matters. “In that regard, the combination of these two companies will create one of the world’s strongest, best-of-breed software solution.”
