Reliable wireless communication, even with interference, is now being offered on Siemens IWLAN, thanks to the introduction of iHOP functionality.
Siemens makes the point that, even with careful planning, interferences may still occur on WLANs, for example due to poor channel quality or individually active WLANs in the same frequency band of 2.4 GHz.
So with the new system, the access point and its clients now automatically hop to a different radio channel to get around the problem.
The IWLAN access point recognises interferences through continuous analysis, using iHOP, with the access point then making autonomous decisions around channel use, and hopping to so rapidly that the application is not impaired.
Siemens says that if interference occurs in the complete frequency band, it is even possible to change to the 5-GHz band.
