Infor partners with Blue Dot for wireless asset management

Infor EAM (enterprise asset management) Advanced Mobile is being billed as an adaptable, portable asset management solution aimed at improving preventive maintenance and asset utilisation. It can be used with Infor’s entire family of EAM solutions – derived from its Datastream acquisition – including Infor EAM Enterprise Edition, Infor EAM Business Edition and Infor EAM MP2. “In many instances, entering collected data in an office computer isn’t the most productive way to manage asset performance,” observes Marty Osborn, senior director of industry product management for Infor EAM. “Advanced Mobile unleashes asset management from the desktop and puts it in the hands of the people who need it most. The ability to create new applications based on business-specific templates means that companies have a highly intuitive, configurable solution that can support their needs well into the future,” he adds. In fact, it means rather more than you can get in standard mobile EAM offerings. For example, it supports functionality such as GIS (geographic information systems) and GPS, RFID, multi-dimensional barcode reading, and integration with calibration systems. It can also be integrated with other back-end enterprise systems such as ERP and HR packages. What’s more, the solution comes pre-packaged with mobile device-orientated templates for functions such as work management, asset management, inventory management, inspection and audits, direct store delivery and RFID for preventive maintenance. And through Blue Dot’s Mobile Framework – essentially, a multi-channel access gateway – it supports multiple suites, meaning no need for single point-to-point application connections. In fact, Infor says that the solution enables access to practically any mobile operation with Infor EAM, other Infor products, or manufacturers’ other existing systems.
