Manufacturing business software giant Infor says it intends to invest in what it terms 'the equipment dealership industry' dedicating some 200 staff to the Infor Equipment product set at the company's Stockholm, Sweden, innovation centre.

Additionally, Infor has created a CAT Dealer Advisory Council aimed at supporting and developing industry specific software templates that build on the collective experience of all members. "Infor is investing heavily in products and working closely with equipment dealers to help them control, track and coordinate the entire equipment lifecycle and manage internal sales, finance, service, warranty and rental departments," explains Mark Wright, executive vice president at Infor. "Equipment dealers have a special set of business challenges and need to meet growing competition and price pressures head-on by using visibility to manage outsourced value chains," he adds. As for the Sweden centre, Wright says it's all about supporting Caterpillar equipment dealers, and encourages those with Infor software to join the nine initial members in the CAT Dealer Advisory Council. "Participating in the Infor CAT Dealer Advisory Council enables us to convene with our peers to help determine best practices that Infor is building into its products to help us operate more strategically and profitably," states Rens Bouman, programme director at PON Equipment and PON Power, one of Europe's largest Caterpillar dealerships.
