Manufacturing ERP giant Infor has released Infor10 Supply Chain Execution, describing the software as "a revolutionary application that helps eliminate obstacles to quick information flow, operate faster and deliver more customer value at less cost".
Given the history of enterprise software hype, it's a bold (and long) claim. However, Brent Forden, senior product manager for SCM at Infor, suggests that by bringing warehouse management, labour management, billing and transportation planning under one roof, the software reduces complexities, automates repetitive processes and enables faster decision making.
Also, he points out that by using Infor's Infor10 ION middleware, the application interfaces happily with other solutions s, including ERP, manufacturers' systems for stock balances and transaction details, and third party solutions.
Additionally, he makes the point that the system uses integration tools to upload master data and transaction data more quickly, so enabling manufacturers to add new customers faster.
The results, he says, include better workforce management, automated inventory management, and self-service for customers, vendors and employees, as well as accurate reports and alerts.
"Today's supply chain demands quick, critical decision-making regarding schedules, costs, deadlines, transportation requirements and customer requests," states Forden.
"To make this happen, coherent, valid information from a single source is needed in real time. That's why Infor10 SCE is a game changer."
