James Wharton MP will look to outline the Government’s long-term economic plan as it seeks to re-balance growth across the regions and nations of the UK, and build a Northern Powerhouse, during his talk from 14.15 to 15.00 on 7 July.
The MP aims to implement a plan that could add up to £40 billion to the economy by the end of the next decade or £1,600 per person living in the North East (in real terms). This strategy consists of investing in science and technology, transport, digital and innovation, culture and tourism across the region, alongside devolving power will give the North a powerful new voice.
He will also be taking questions on a number of important issues for the region including what the future holds for manufacturing in the North East after the UK voted to the leave the EU in last Thursday's referendum.
In addition to the Northern Powerhouse minister, the conference at Manufacturing & Engineering North East will provide case studies by industry leading speakers including Hitachi Rail, Nissan, Ford Aerospace and AMRC TC.
