Time and attendance software developer Kronos has broadened its offering to include scheduling, absence management, analytics, labour tracking and shop-floor data collection.

Kronos for Manufacturing is, says the firm, about improving productivity, profitability and resource utilisation while also ensuring compliance. It expects fast take-up as manufacturers increasingly reach the limits of their earlier ERP, supply chain management and CRM (customer relationship management) investments. And the company adds that manufacturers will benefit from the experience gained at users like Algoma Steel, Aston Martin, Camoplast, Cangene Corp, Caterpillar, Kvaerner Aker, Racal, Ronseal, Sunseeker and Visteon. “From working with leading manufacturers across the globe, we understood it was imperative to introduce an industry-specific solution to help them overcome the obstacles they are facing related to the workforce,” says Gregg Gordon, global practice leader for manufacturing at Kronos. “Many manufacturers are in the infancy stages of optimising their workforce. With the adoption of Kronos for Manufacturing, [they] will be able to achieve operational excellence.” Analysts agree: “Capturing and understanding the critical pieces of information of labour performance can help manufacturers dial into the performance of their operation,” says David Caruso, principal of consultancy David Caruso & Associates. “By focusing on workforce performance optimisation, Kronos for Manufacturing has established a leadership role for the next important source of performance gains for the global manufacturing industry,” he adds.
