Thales and Aker Kvaerner go for new release of risk management software

“To improve programme confidence, we’ve mandated the use of Primavera Pertmaster in all key projects,” says David Ashcroft, risk manager at Thales UK. “We’ll migrate our 40 users to v8 because of the extensive risk intelligence it offers, combined with ease of use for our project teams.” Aimed at project and portfolio management environments, PertMaster v8 enables users to see the impacts of different risk mitigation plans – enabling project leaders to make informed project decisions. V8 includes: cost/schedule trade-off analysis, which graphically shows relative benefits of alternative risk mitigation approaches; and a highly intuitive interface, which, says the company, offers fast access to functions and substantially reduces the learning curve for new users. Other new features include: seamless integration with Primavera P6 project and programme management software and Microsoft Project 2007; and standard template risk functions, views and menus designed to help users assess risk in project and portfolio management. “Primavera PertMaster v8 has given my team even greater insight and ability to ensure that the project keeps moving to meet with time and budget constraints,” says Bill Hunter, PMP manager, planning and scheduling, Aker Kvaerner. “The speed of the information back to the risk management team makes it easier to respond to challenges that arise.
