Large diesel engines manufacturer MAN B&W is implementing SAP Data Archiving and SAP Document Capture at three sites across the UK. It says the objective is to improve efficiency by further integrating and automating business processes.
They’re being installed as fixed price, off-the-shelf packaged services from SAP. MAN B&W gets a 30-day delivery guarantee and, with no unexpected consulting or software costs, says it’s the way to go for such enhancements.
“The fixed delivery for SAP Packaged Services made them the right fit for us,” says MAN B&W Diesel SAP technical manager. “We had specific business objectives to reduce administration and costs in the organisation, and the solution made that very easy by integrating quickly and flexibly into our existing technology.”
MAN B&W runs SAP R/3 as its core system, and the packaged services will integrate with those, reducing admin and likelihood of errors in filing, printing, approving and distributing invoices and the like.
The solutions will also reduce storage space and document maintenance, improve data security, increase the speed of data retrieval within R/3, reduce time required to produce reports and support legal requirements.
SAP’s Packaged Services, have already deployed by some 20 UK organisations including safety equipment supplier ARCO and helicopter contractor Westland Helicopters. Currently, there are 35 such add-ons, covering everything from data archiving to mobile sales force management.
