Business integration and process management software company Tibco says that its Collaborative Information Manager 6.0 will be a cornerstone for manufacturers’ service-orientated architecture (SOA) initiatives aimed at improving IT infrastructure flexibility.
Providing full master data management (MDM) functionality, it looks after data quality and governance to improve the accuracy and consistency of information at all levels – essential according to business analysts .
“MDM is becoming a business imperative for many organisations and is increasingly being designed for SOA environments,” says analyst Gartner’s VP of research David Newman. “We see MDM helping organisations to expose a layer of business services to achieve consistency, accuracy and integrity of information assets.”
Meanwhile, Tiboco general manager Neeraj Gokhale comments: “Most of the attention to SOA deployments has gone into web service creation, deployment and management standards and technologies. However, if data is inconsistent across applications, it will be increasingly difficult – if not prohibitive – to build heterogeneous SOA services that cut across multiple systems and departments.”
Tibco Collaborative Information Manager 6.0 is all about providing the information alignment for integrating business services across ‘silos’ (individual departments and functions) and disparate applications.
By exposing information and application functionality through a web services layer, it allows disparate data and sources to become reusable part of business services – and hence the new flexibility and real-time cross business knowledge.
