Mitsubishi Aircraft's Regional Jet (MRJ) next-generation aircraft reliability and maintainability management platform is to be powered by PTC design and product lifecycle management software.
The MRJ, which is the first new airliner produced in Japan for nearly 50 years, is said to harness leading-edge aerodynamic engineering and noise reduction technologies.
With production planned for this year, Mitsubishi Aircraft says it needed systems to maximise operational efficiency ahead of shipping.
Once deployed, PTC's solution will centrally manage product history and improvements, gathering and analysing field data, and communicating changes to internal organisations and external partners.
The expectation is that it will improve collaboration across MRJ project teams focused on quality, reliability and maintainability of the aircraft – identifying potential failure modes, controlling or preventing their occurrence or effects, and tracking compliance of parts against industry standards.
The system will be based on PTC's Windchill Quality Solutions (formerly known as Relex) and its Arbortext service information package.
Mitsubishi says it intends to implement the PTC solutions in its customer support organisation, with go-live before the first aircraft delivery.
