Structural analysis on rocket engines developed by Nagoya Guidance & Propulsion Systems Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is to be performed using UGS’ NX Nastran CAD/CAM software.
MHI says it selected NX Nastran as one of its analysis solvers following a benchmark study, which demonstrated its large-scale analysis capabilities, advanced structural analysis technology and high performance computing.
Large-scale analysis is one of the keys to minimising the cost of manufacturing and physical testing of rocket engines. Good structural analysis and high performance computing are important for obvious reasons.
“We selected UGS’ NX Nastran because it can execute critical structural analysis that we were not able to do with our legacy system,” says Takashi Ito, Engine & Control Equipment Engineering Department, Nagoya Guidance & Propulsion System Works. “UGS provides MHI [with] the scalability and performance we need to continue to enhance innovation.”
