New Norbar factory will expand output

Norbar Torque Tools has officially opened a new 170,000 sq ft production site – more than three times the size of its present Banbury head office and factory. It will allow the torque and measuring equipment specialist to expand manufacturing output to meet increased worldwide demand.

The move is being phased, with the two units running concurrently until project completion in 2015. Norbar, which has already increased its workforce this year by 25 to 260, says the expansion will mean more local employment opportunities. The 70-year-old family owned company, which exports 75% of its output, has always loyally retained its manufacturing base in Banbury and this will be its third move in the town but there are now Norbar companies in Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Singapore, China and India. Managing director Neill Brodey said that it was fitting that the company should be marking its 70th anniversary year in 2012 with a move to a new site which offered "exceptional opportunities for development and growth of the business in the UK and overseas".
