Cambridgeshire-based tape printing firm Limpet Tapes – soon to be the world’s biggest top-surface printing business – has chosen Syspro ERP from K3 Business Technology Group.
The organisation is combining its three production sites into one, and says that Syspro will provide the IT backbone – improving operational visibility company-wide.
Limpet managing director Ken Mellor says that after using a bespoke Unix system for more than 20 years, the company recognised the need for a modern, user-friendly system. Hence Syspro which, he says, will now underpin the expansion of the business.
“We needed a new system to cope with the very strong growth in production of our printed tape products,” says Mellor. “To streamline our processes we are proposing to put all our production planning into Syspro. This will undoubtedly boost our efficiencies, which will help us to reduce operational costs. We can then pass on these savings to our customers.”
He says the company will implement Syspro’s core manufacturing, distribution and financial modules.
“Syspro will be much easier to use than our old system. We are also looking forward to offering our customers the opportunity to access and query their orders through the secure web-interface.
“They often have dozens of orders with us at any one time and the new system will allow them to see how their orders are progressing. The flexibility of the system will also enable us to easily handle orders ranging from less than 100 rolls to over 100,000 rolls. This will allow us to offer services to support all sizes of businesses.”
